I had a leisurely time reminiscing about last year’s New Years.
The first page of my calendar was blank white but now it’s black with pen marks.
I’m not much of an artist but here’s a New Year’s Card for you.
Now was the time to ask for the answers I’d been too scared of.
And when I did
the reasons were simple and easy and full of kindness.
I want to give myself who was so lonely and sulky back then a big smack on the head.
Those days way back when, when I used to get in trouble for not putting out the futon, is now something we can laugh about, so I guess it’s okay.
To make up for it, tomorrow
I’ll put out Mom’s futon and tatami too.
And I’ll sleep on it.
