[LiSA Blog 08/28/12] KiSS me PARADOX

Hi.

Sometimes I’m thrown by sudden events. But that’s when my heart is full of feelings, full of selfishness.
Sometimes, when I thought about it, I realized that the event was one that would make someone else happy.
That makes me feel a lot better, but when I come face to face with it, those selfish times when my own feelings of loneliness or sorrow win out, I do feel a little mortified.
I wish I was able to smile and say “It’ll be okay.” no matter what happened.
I don’t care about being strong, but I want to be a kind person.
Today I’m going to talk about KiSS me PARADOX, from the limited edition version of crossing field, which came out on August 8th.
Lyrics: Shin Furuya-sama.
Music & Arrangement: Takeshi Isozaki-.
They also wrote WiLD CANDY from my album LOVER”S”MiLE.

I’ll never forget the impact WiLD CANDY had on me the first time I heard it.
WiLD CANDY was still a demo with demo lyrics, but I listened to it for aaaages.

Isozaki-san’s song always excite me. The song and the melody always seem so much fun to sing.
So I asked Isozaki-san for a cute POP song.
And I was just excited as I always.

So anyway, I listened to the demo of KiSS me PARADOX with the demo lyrics over and over again on the way home from the dentist.
It was a beautiful day, and I’d just received all kinds of warnings since I’d just gotten my teeth cleaned.
“Don’t eat. Don’t drink. Make sure you stick to light colored things tonight!”
On the way home:
“Ooh, I want cake.”
“Ooh, but maybe I should have some ramen first.”
“But I also want dumplings too.”
When I’m told I can’t eat something, it just makes me want to eat it more. (LOL)
(Because I’m selfish.)
That’s right. It was the tune that my selfish tummy danced to on the way home from the dentist. (LOL)
So, when he wrote the lyrics for my last album, we talked about the lyrics a lot, so I knew for sure that Furuya-san would decorate the song with words like a toy box, so my only request was “Please write 10 things that a selfish girl would look for in a boy!!” (LOL)

The finished lyrics were just like a toy box. Furuya-san’s lyrics are so wicked with Isozaki’san’s songs!
This is seriously exciting stuff.
I wanna film a music video. I want to stuff my face with POP, colorful food like cake or ice cream. (I really just want to eat.)
So then, during the instrumental recording, the musicians added even more excitement, and the notes were all laughing, and singing.
And in the studio, when we were layering the sounds, everyone gathered together to enjoy the music, and I could see everyone laughing.
It was more like a concert than a recording session.
I really love every single bit of it, but the guitar solo is especially exciting.
Even the instrumental version without vocals makes me smile. That’s the kind of song it turned out to be.

I had soooo much fun recording the vocals. (LOL) Especially the chorus.
I started getting greedy about melodies and I kept adding more call and response arts, and more riffs. LOL (Because the heroine of the song is a greedy girl.)
My favorite riff is the “Merry Go Round” riff. Make sure you sing along with the “Pa pa pa pa a la” at the end.
I want some sort of synchronized movement there. I’ll think of something.
(Just a whim)

I recorded Itsuka no Tegami and KiSS me PARADOX together, and I think both came out to be such warm, fun songs because everyone in the studio was smiling.
Enjoying sound. You can see why the Japanese word for music is written with the characters for ‘sound’ and ‘enjoy’.
I hope that the love and laughter from that day reaches you through the music.

(Lower: Ba. Takama-sama, LiSA, Writer of Itsuka no Tegami Kurosu-sama, Lyricist Furuya-sama, Above: Director and Engineer Okamura-sama, RaMEN THE ODGE-sama, Gt. Yakichi-sama, Piano&Organ Chiba-sama, KiSS me PARADOX Writer Isozaki-sama)

It’s so amazing!!
I’ll think up something really great for our date (LiVE) and imagine all kinds of views with the RaMEN.

I wonder if you hate greedy, selfish girls?
Tomorrow I’ll talk about Kawaranai Ao.

Be Happy.
Today’s another great day.

BYE-chiっ.
